Rockin’ Thursdays

Published February 24, 2011 by LS Murphy

There are two songs that, in my opinion, ushered in the 80s hair metal, also known as glam metal, scene.

One is Twisted Sister’s “We’re Not Gonna Take It” released in 1984 and reached #21 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

The other is Quiet Riot’s “Cum on Feel The Noize” from their 1983 album Mental Health, which was the first hair metal album to reach #1 on the Billboard charts and has been certified platinum 6 times. “Cum on Feel the Noize” hit #6 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1983.

Now I was just a wee lass when the song first came out, but I remember my much older sister playing this song as loudly as she could in our room, often waking me up. I love the song too, although at normal decimals. (I would later learn to rock out as well as my sister.)

Today, I give you….

Sing along with the lyrics.
