Opening Day

Published April 12, 2010 by LS Murphy

Yes, I know I said I wouldn’t talk about the St. Louis Cardinals on this blog but…well, it’s OPENING DAY! For the uninitiated, that means the Cardinals are having their first home game of the 2010 baseball season.

Opening Day is magical in this city. Downtown is packed with a sea of red. People party in Keiner Plaza. They walk around taking pictures. They enjoy what St. Louis is.

Baseball is sacred here. Above football, above hockey, it is the one consistent we can count on. The St. Louis Cardinals have a long tradition of being a superior team. They are second only to the mighty, money throwing New York Yankees in World Series Championships. They win and lose with grace and dignity. They are heroes. They are humble. They are a proud organization.

That’s why I love this team. Even though today is Opening Day, every game the Cards play at home is honored in the same way. We will flock to see our boys play. We are Cardinal Nation.
